Who is the that Mystery Night Rider?

I was riding early this morning, as I generally do for fitness. I leave my home anywhere from 4:30 to 5:15 AM most days of the week. Since I ride the same route near the same time I have become familiar with many of the vehicles on the road at that time and in that vicinity.

But today, July 22 was very strange. It was approximately 5:35 and I was south bound on the Lefort Bypass headed towards the cement bridge. I noticed a unique looking headlight that seemed to be moving slowly. I thought it might be a motorcycle. Because of the slow speed I got slightly alarmed. You never know what you might run into in the darkness. Running a night is very different from riding in the day light. I watched the light as it slowly approached, not sure what I was looking at. On only one other occasion had I seen something that looked identical. But I know it couldn’t be. As the light passed by there was silence and I knew it was a bicycle. I noticed a blinking rear light as we passed.

The only other time I had seen something like this was a few months ago when Jeff Hendricks was commuting to work. My wife and I were walking early in the morning before day light when we saw the light. The headlight looked identical. It was too dark this morning also to see who was on the bicycle and we pass so fast I didn’t even think to shout out to him or her.

Will all my heart I wished it was Jeff, but I know it couldn’t be. He is recovering from surgery.
